challenge... Several companies have licensed to operate branded versions of 401k Enginuity. The marketing sites for two of the branded versions are shown at right. These two sites share nearly identical content (they're run by the same company), but because they target vastly different audiences they look quite different. For 401k Easy Online the goal was ultra user-friendly, non-intimidating. For Web 401k, more schematic, techy yet still uncomplicated.
solution... For 401k Easy Online, we started by creating a simple, Internet-feeling logo then adding to it very friendly, textured artwork that isn't the run-of-the-mill banking prototype. We created the signature money trucks from pre-existing art that we transformed rather dramatically from its purchased state. To the graphics we added easy to understand text. The client had scores for us to include, but we were able to at least clean up the language to make things a bit less cumbersome.

About a year later, the client had us create Web 401k as an alternate presentation of the information. For this site, we adopted a schematic feel designed to appeal to technology lovers. We also got the opportunity to reorganize, re-edit and reduce the amount of text to yield a more concise presentation.
