Hand in hand with affordability, we stressed the product's immense completeness and flexibility. After all, what's low cost if there's no quality?
Stress ease of use.
401k Easy Online isn't your typical 401k. It's a streamlined, online self-service system that lets employers and their employees directly access and process information via the company's plan-specific section of the system.
Pixel Relish stressed ease of use with the fact that month-to-month administration takes most businesses less than 15 minutes.
The free product demo Easytec supplied meant Pixel Relish could encourage viewers to try things out before committing to anything -- or spending any money.
Embody the product's ease of use through the website's ease to use.
This website is extensive: Easytec mapped out more than 30 primary pages, many of them quite lengthy, plus an investment lookup network and numerous pop-up information windows.
Yet to give confidence to the idea that the online product is layman friendly, the website HAD to be easy to navigate, easy to read, and easy to understand. To these ends, we chose a casual tone for the text, emphasized primary topics in the main navigation panel while supporting and background topics within the "More Information..." menu and footer, and summarized each page's content at the top left of the page as well as within the extensive site map.
Quick load times.
Quick load times are always a Pixel Relish self-imposed must. The worst scenario for a web designer and its client is to get a hit (someone visiting your site) then have the person quit the page because it takes too long to load.
For 401k-easy-online.com, we kept the use of images to a minimum and instead let text dominate each page. This approach served well both the volume of information to relay and the need for the site to please search engines (see next).
Search engine relevancy.
401k-easy-online.com relies heavily on search engines to introduce people to the site.
To foster high rankings, we included general information about 401k plans, about certain federal compliance issues, about investment guidance services that can help plan participants make educated decisions; Easytec research staff compiled the facts, and we wove them into useful pages that would please search engines that favor informative not promotional text.
Throughout the site we crafted the text in language that, while remaining readable, contained words and phrases relevant to the search engine search words we wanted to trigger our listing.
We placed the text within pages whose structure search engine spiders would find easy to traverse.
Last but not least, we linked the site to the information network an Easytec affiliate developed (and continues to develop) to educate people about retirement plans and related issues. The network itself sells nothing and makes no biased product recommendations; some human search engines favor such pages in their rankings.
